A bale I bought at a Capalaba sand and gravel @ $8 is about 73 49 36 cms but I expect the ones I am ordering will be a little bigger possibly 80 50 40.
Ordering in the next couple of days will let you know delivery date
Michael, there are two types of cane mulch - one is cut much finer than the other. If it is the fine mulch I am definately interested at that price and would probably get at least four bales.
You can buy the rougher cut from the side of the road at Cabbage Tree Point/ Jacobs Well for around $3.50 (maybe $4.00 now, it has been awhile) or the fine mulch for $8.00 and a local supplier has the fine one for about $9.00.
By fine Donna, do you mean the compressed bales sold in plastic? If so then you get a great deal more for the money. Having used both, the compressed bales are much simpler to deal with and leave less mess in the car. You can seal them up again too if you don't use it all up. They are both dusty though. Rocky Point is the brand I buy and of the two common brands, is the less dusty.
By fine I do mean the Rocky Point you buy at the shop. I used to live at Jacobs Well and you can buy cane mulch on the side of the road but it is not chopped as finely and sometimes has biggish pieces of sugar cane in it (as long as your hand).
There are 2 farmers I have been in touch with, one will do 100 bales at $4 ea with a $30 delivery charge and the other does them at $5 ea delivered and can deliver 50.
