Hi Vanessa
I will lend you a copy of a book called Seed Savers Handbook when I see you next.
Cabbage and carrots are a bit hard in our climate as it takes two seasons usually for the plant to produce a stem and flower which is then pollinated and turns into seed.
Lettuce, herbs are usually pretty easy as they produce flowers readily (usually before you want them to!) which then become seeds - I have some in my garden at the moment if you drop off the worm farms... although if you ask Betty/ Bob they probably have something that has 'bolted' to seed to show you.

Hi guys, hope all is well and everyone is good'O.
I am very curious about how do you get seeds from carrots, lettuce, herbs, cabbage.....all those vege's that dont have seeds? Real want to give seed saving ago!

Okay, not sure where else to post this...
We didn't pick our asparagus in time & I am not sure if we should leave the four as ferns and keep picking, or if it will slow production and we should pick them for compost *boo hoo* :(

Hi Cassandra, the next Garden Visit has been added as an Event by Trinette and it is on 31st May.
Seed Saver Meetings/ Garden Visits are held once a month, generally at the end of the month at peoples homes and anyone is welcome to host one. Just let either me or Chris know.
At the moment I think that May (Trinette) / June (Betty) / July (Me) have been organised.
Once you have RSVPed to the Event you will be able to add comments etc to the actual Event, you will need to contact Trinette to get her address, either by phone (her mobile is listed), message or leave a message on her page.

I didn't realise that I needed to join this group and just realised how this site works- well, still learning. Is there a garden to visit this weekend? I would so love to see how others garden.

Have been pretty busy lately and haven't had a chance to do a newsletter but am hoping to get one out soon for autumn.

I will be at the garden visit this weekend and will bring my seeds and books if anyone is interested.

We've got a Grumichama tree too, never tried the fruit though. I think we planted it in 2007, but it didn't grow much, probably due to poor soil preparation.. My parents bought it because they thought it was Mangosteen ^^" What little foilege we've got on the tree looks nice, I can imagine it would have been a nice tree if it was planted properly... can it be saved now?
