I have been contacted and asked if Brisbane Local Food would like to have an "information stall" at the Ekka, in the horticultural area.  We could put together some printed info on all sorts of…Continue

I think the site is very complex at the moment. It's hard to know where to go to find things.  Do you look on the blogs or on the forums or in the groups? My first suggestion would be to merge the…Continue

Absolutely Gabrielle! I was thinking it might be best to give it a little while before kicking off discussions here in order to allow everyone to exhaust / digest / find the previous conversations and for those who are interested to join this group. In which case we pause for a bit. How does that sound? Thanks for all joining!

Would it be useful to go over the topics mentions and turn them into bundled discussions?

Not sure if a separate group will deter or encourage people to comment, but I am in.

Thanks for all your energy.

Great idea :)

As you already know, my aim is to create more workshops in my local area of Moreton and encouraging more membership in the region. Accessing funding is the first step. Will be talking today with Linda from Yandina Community Gdns to learn how they go about it. She did mention that my local council already have access to the Living Smart funding! so it might be simpler than I thought to get things moving....somehow I doubt it though lol.

About this site

Welcome to Brisbane Local Food (BLF)!

This site was created by site-founder, Scarlett Patrick, to build capacity in the Brisbane  community for growing, buying, and living sustainably. Six years on, BLF is an important hub to promote, discuss, share and learn about local food growing, production, gardens, services and activities happening in our part of the world.

This site exists for you - make the most if it!

BLF is motivated by passion, not profit. We thank all volunteers and members who make this an active and inspiring space to be, as well as those individuals, organisations and groups working to make the future greener.

What is local?
The closer the better - but regional and global activities are important too.

Why local?
To reduce food miles, increase food freshness & security, improve social outcomes and reduce the unused outputs of our living environments - like stormwater and green waste.

Brisbane is a sub-tropical city in Queensland, Australia.
