Brisbane Local Food

Growing local

Yoorala Street Community Garden was a very interesting place for me to see.  It has a mix of shared community plots and individual plots.

Facilities including composting and a pizza oven.

They are in the process of installing wicking beds:

Here's the orchard and some of the plots.

Winners are grinners.  The raffle winners (a lovely bag and bee hotel - thanks Valerie).

Thanks to Valerie and the Yoorala Street gardeners for a lovely morning!!

It looks like a good sized garden, do they have many members?   Hope you all had a great time.

It was lovely Christa.  They had a pretty good roll up of people for the working bee.  Seems like a pretty good model to me.

Thank you all for coming to this lovely morning. Our gardens have about 35 members and about 30 plots. It is a great community.

Thanks for the opportunity to see your community garden Valerie.
