Growing local

For those Turmeric junkies out there -- such as my good self -- here's an innovative  take on hummus.

Directions: blend the lot up to a smooth paste.

Ingredients:

2 cans chickpeas or equivalent in cooked chickpeas.
About 150 ml of the  chickpea can or cooking water
    3-4 garlic cloves, to taste
    3 tablespoons tahini
4 tablespoons olive oil + a bit more to finish
5-6 tablespoons fresh lemon juice, to taste
2 ¼ teaspoons turmeric paste for golden milk*
    1 ¼ teaspoon salt
    pepper

*Basically 'golden paste' is turmeric + oil + pepper according to this recipe.
I take the paste every day so it's always in the house. Any form of turmeric should do but for absorption options add plenty of pepper as the sesame oil in the tahini should suit the therapeutic demands  of the combo.

for a tumeric junkie like yourself - thought you might find some humour in this - three year old granddaughter is sitting on the floor yesterday really upset with a small piece of turmeric held lovingly in her hand - after many tears and gulps it turns out she thought she had granddads finger in her hand - yes it did look like that !!!!   Cant wait for our turmeric to grow and try this recipe = sounds delish !!!
