That's a very good article, thanks for sharing Elaine. Horrifying. Simply horrifying :(

Thought I had a good video on this one but cannot find it in the now quite long list of videos we have saved.

Agree, totally horrifying. Can't even begin to tell you how much the qld government is mistaken on this one. We all need to be aware of this and spread the knowledge.

Coal related win against Gina recently via GetUp:

Historic news out of Queensland today. Farmers and community groups took Gina Rinehart's coal mine application to court - and won!

The mine would have serious impacts on groundwater - not to mention the risks of exporting the coal through ports that neighbour the Great Barrier Reef. While there's still a chance that Hancock Coal could still get approval subject to more conditions, the court's ruling is clear: either this mine cleans up its act, or it doesn't go ahead.

A massive congratulations and thank you is owed to the people and groups that worked hard on this, including local landholders & farmers, Coast and Country Association, Environmental Defenders Office (Qld)Mackay Conservation Group & many others.

More on it here: http://www.lockthegate.org.au/alpha_mine_decision_qld_government_sh...

HOPEFULLY more will follow!

and a forum where you supposedly can have your say about wanting privatisation or not, but my nose smells manipulation of citizens. http://www.treasury.qld.gov.au/clients/community/community-forums.s...
