I would be interested in the Asparagus and waterchestnuts ~

Is this the right time for potatos in Brisbane? I saw seed potatoes, strawberry and Rhuba crowns at Big W yesterday ... no asperagus though...

I maybe able to share some arrowroot and comfrey root cuttings if anyone wants them...
Hi Florence
Would love to try arrowroot - that would be one off my list (everything is on my list lol).

Gardenate says Potatoes in July under the section 'preparing for August' harvest Oct/ Nov and again in August for harvest Nov/Dec.

If I get a chance before my meeting I will try to make up some chilli/ garlic oil for those naughty ladybettles and you can take some with you.
Hi Florence - I'm new to the group and am interested in arrowroot and comfrey root cuttings. I notice that Donna is also interested. Will you be at her open garden on the 19th?? I have some organic seeds I may be able to trade - snow pea, sugar snap, eggplant, roma toms, loofah, rocket, beetroot. Did you know that arrowroot is used to break down compost quickly??
Cheers, Lyn
Welcome to group Lyn. I will dig up an arrowroot and a comfrey plant and bring them to the Garden visit at Donna's place.

I'd like to try some eggplant and peas if you have spare, do you know what variety you've got?
Hi Florence
Haven't started a new thread yet but I found a cheap shop on ebay for seeds - bought some eggplant so you are welcome to a few of those, just remind me ;)
Hi Florence, I'm finding it difficult to navigate this web page, looking for replies etc. So have just found your reply :) snowpea is Melting Mammoth, sugar snap is sugar snap?!, eggplant is Early Long. The seeds were purchased from Northey Street Organic Farm. I haven't planted yet as my vege garden is still in the making.
Donna, if you want lemongrass and don't mind what variety (as I have no idea, started off from a bunch I bought from markets), I can dig some of that up as well... although they have a bit of rust on the leave blades at the moment probably due to the cold.. should really cut them all back for winter, but I'd like to leave some for the chicken bedding... makes it smells better..
Hi Florence
Not fussy, that would be great. I am still kicking myself as I pulled out a huge clump when I moved in but thought it was just out of control grass :)
ooh I like that idea - I just use it for mulch
lol, yeah, Albert and his mum thought my lemongrass were out of control weeds too :)
So how did you found out that it was lemongrass you pulled out? It's pretty difficult to pull out ^^"
Yeah took me ages with the mattock, when it was drying on the pile of other weeds I could smell the lemony scent and figured it out.
Okay, have spoken to Green Harvest and there is a standard delivery charge of $9.50 (regardless of order size) and if I do a bulk order by next Tuesday guaranteed delivery by the weekend for pickup at my place on Sunday.

I am still trying to get a few more people for the Asparagus bulk deal and will send a message to seed saver members letting them know so hopefully we can get them at the cheap price.
