I haven't tried any of them yet but I know Christopher had huge success with Ginger and the website says it is very easy to grow for a year round supply in frost free areas & shade loving so if you were only wanting to plant one this is probably it. Also, he mentioned that any purchased from a greengrocer/ supermarket would probably work just as well...
