Growing local

To my surprise, today I found some flowers on my Sweet Potatoes. There is no mistaking that they are related to Morning Glory, they are of a soft Mauve with a deeper Purple throat. I know I won't be the only member to have flowers on my Sweet potatoes, but my question is what colour are yours and do they produce seeds?

Sounds like the same colour flower as the plants in my garden Dianne. I've never tried to look for or really noticed seeds as the tubers left behind, large or small keep the vines shooting, almost to nuisance level. Mine's a standard orange inside, orange skin type.

Whose name is Beauregard.

I often get flowers as you describe Dianne. Never resulted in any seed.

From what I read it can be an indication that the crop is almost ready to harvest once the flowers are finished, but to be honest, I don't think it matters all that much. One of those crops you can harvest anytime.

The orange is my favourite. just love them as Wedges or in my Curries. Also I do make a mean Sweet Potato, Pumpkin and Cumin Soup if I may say so myself..

Sounds delish. I have been so ordinary with my cooking since the kids left home. I need to rediscover food.

The Cumin part is as a butter and it is beautiful floated on the top of the soup and swirled in. It is also lovely on top of a Sweet Corn soup.
