Brisbane Local Food

Growing local

I thought some people may be interested in this:

Permaculture 'guru' David Holmgren wrote in 2008 about 4 future scenarios because of climate change and peak oil.

He has now adapted his writings

Nocole Voss has also responded to it here:

Essentially my understanding is that a global financial crisis can be a blessing in disguise as an end to many wrongs in the present global financial system. People that are living frugally and grow their own and are in a community such as here, will more than likely survive. david calls for ways in which this can be sped up.

Whatever your beliefs on it, it is good food for thought! I thought I'd share.

Vetiver grass helps to stabilise soil and protects it against erosion.  It can protect against pests and weeds. Vetiver is also used as animal feed. (Wiki.)

The Vetiver Community Project is a plant nursery run by Dave & Keir Riley that harvests and grows Vetiver grass for local community applications and use. It is based in Beachmere, just north of Brisbane, Australia.
