Brisbane Local Food

Growing local

The Council now has some web pages dedicated to their goal of fostering community gardens in Brisbane. They contain advice for start up, explain what's needed if you want to use Council land (parks and road reserves) and provide links to apply for grant money.

Scarlett this is exactly what I have been looking for from BCC (well I haven't started looking yet!!). I would love to start a Community Garden in Forest Lake. Have visited many in the past few weeks, and am a regular at Northey Street. Thanks :)

Great to hear Lyn and Vanessa are excited!
I was working hard at Council to develop this Community gardens policy and add-ons over a 10 month period and it still needs lots of development.
However, it's a start and good on Council for making the start!
My time at Council is over now and charged with many years of working at starting community gardens, environmental education and horticultural teaching, I am available to assist community groups, schools, businesses and people interested in maximising their opportunties for community gardens.
I am contactable at lindahbrennan@bigpond.com
Cheers
Linda
