Brisbane Local Food

Growing local

Village (Event in Queensland) are the distributors for the movie in Australia - after checking the website it seems that 20 May is the release date for Australia, but so far it seems that Event Cinemas are not distributing in Queensland.

Let's encourage Event to show this movie in Queensland! Go to the facebook page and show your support here: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#!/pages/Bring-the-movie-Food-Inc-to-Brisbane/119244394759243?ref=nf

Send this around to your friends and 'like' it individually and we will send Event Qld the huge interest in this public interest film.

If you don't like facebook, then please add your support by joining this discussion and we'll add your names to the list that is sent to Event Qld.

Please leave your comments and if anyone is interested in helping let us know!

Suggestion for those of us who do not use Facebook:

Go to the Event Cinema website (www.eventcinemas.com.au), go to 'help' - sort you way though the possible topics to the 'coming events' section. Then stick with it because their help is not helpful nor logical but you can fight your way through to a webform where you select your local cinema and send them 'feedback' giving the suggested subject line of 'coming event'. Make it short and sweet, more chance of them actually reading it.

This is what I said:

"Topic: Feedback
Coming Events
Good morning ... I've heard about the film 'Food Inc" and have heard that it is not coming to Queensland.

Please ensure that this important film comes to ALL cinemas in Queensland.

Regards

Elaine"
Wonderful Elaine! Thanks so much for supporting this great movie. Go well, Emma
Wonder of wonders, I have just received a response from the Morayfield branch of Birch Carroll (Event Cinemas). Within 24 hours!

Apparently the distributors are the ones who decide where it will be shown. Amazing power they have - it is only for limited release in Queensland and the distributors choose the cinemas rather than Birch Carroll.

I have asked my correspondent to advise who the distributors are so contacting them direct may have some benefit. Watch this space!
Someone says it's on TV soon - SBS, 20 May 2010:
Oh I wish this was true, but I think SBS have an 'in cinema' section for public interest. I hope I'm wrong though...
The furtherest ahead the SBS schedule will go is to 9th May. So we'll have to possess our little souls in more patience :-(

Looking at the SBS movie show page, Village Roadshow is the distributor. This is their off-line contact details:
Roadshow Films
Level 1, 1 Garden Street
South Yarra Vic 3141
Ph: 03 9829 0666
Fax: 03 9653 1999

Or go to their website and fill in their webform: http://villageroadshow.com.au/Contact-Us.asp.

If enough people ask (please, no 'demand'!) you never know your luck!
I reckon the fact that it was mentioned in The Australian last week gave it some serious cred.

Personally, I can't wait to see it.
