BCC Community Grants funding round open 11th Jan - 15th Feb 2010

Round two of Council’s Community Grant Program opened on 11 January. The grants provide funding to help local non-profit community groups to improve services in Brisbane.

Categories are: Community Services, Community Facility, Men’s Sheds, Environment and Sustainability, Wildlife Carer and Community Gardens.

Grant amounts of $500 - $2500.

Information workshops are being held 19-21 January.

19 January 2010 7pm - 8:30pm Sunnybank Rugby Union Club. 470 McCullough Street, Sunnybank
20 January 2010 7pm - 8:30pm Chermside Bowls Club. 468 Rode Road, Chermside
21 January 2010 7pm - 8:30pm Multicultural Development Association. 512 Stanley Street, South Brisbane

Vetiver grass helps to stabilise soil and protects it against erosion.  It can protect against pests and weeds. Vetiver is also used as animal feed. (Wiki.)

GrowVetiver is a plant nursery run by Dave & Keir Riley that harvests and grows Vetiver grass for local community applications and use. It is based in Beachmere, just north of Brisbane, Australia.
