9am-4pm: Wild Child Gardens: Design for Backyard Nature Play with Tamsin Scott
Discover how to re-wild your front or backyard to inspire endless opportunities for imaginative play in the outdoors!
Using nature’s gifts of plants, sand, mud, rock and wood, design a playful wonderland on your own doorstep. Nature Play – it’s the best alternative to screen-time!
This hands on, practical and lively workshop provides expert guidance on how to transform your garden for natural play that will keep the kids happy for hours on end – and for relatively little cost. The morning session will set the scene – learn about nature play principles, the design process, explore what types of spaces and materials ignite creative play, reflect on your own childhood and tune in to your children’s play needs. The afternoon session will bring all we have learnt into a design hub to develop our beautiful new wild child garden visions! These may be written descriptions, sketches, ‘mudmaps’ or a garden plan ready to bring to fruition.
This workshop is suitable for anyone interested in turning their garden (or part of it) into a wonderful natural play space for children – no prior design skills are needed. Please bring plans of your garden if you have them and/or photographs (either printed or on your device). Older children who are interested in participating are welcome if accompanied by an adult.
Cost: $100/$85 Health Care Concession Card Holder + Eventbrite Fee
