Event Description

Every Wednesday evening Turnstyle hosts a group who are using their combined purchasing power to buy cheap local and ethical food in bulk. There are fresh fruit and vegetables from FoodConnect, as well as dairy products, soy goods, bread, coffee, rice, honey, soap, detergents, spices, and various dried goods. Each member chooses the food they would like, weighs it up and prices it (at cost price). Once all members have chosen, a second round is called for to share out whatever fresh produce is left that cannot be sold at the markets on the weekend. The produce for the next week is then decided upon and ordered.

Members can be individuals, households or small groups. Anyone can come along to watch or join the group. A commitment to the group requires a $50 fully refundable deposit (so there is enough money to pay for the next week's produce) and a commitment to assist in some capacity as a volunteer.

Turnstyle is located under the house at 10 Laura St, Highgate Hill, Queensland 4101 (Brisbane, Australia).
