The locals love it and visitors travel from all over the country to be part of it. Now in its 68th year the award-winning Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers continues to grow. Spectacular gardens, country touring, live music and local food & wine plus much more.

To give them due, it is the Carnival of Flowers.
We need another carnival of "Edible Gardens"
It is some years back now but there was not one food garden nor native garden. Elaine and I did a coach tour of some Carnival entrants probably the winners of this or that category. A number of towns round about also had their own mini-carnivals. So many exotic water-using gardens and not one Carrot or Lettuce. I do hope that the organisers have included food and native gardens by now.

Vetiver grass helps to stabilise soil and protects it against erosion. It can protect against pests and weeds. Vetiver is also used as animal feed. (Wiki.)
GrowVetiver is a plant nursery run by Dave & Keir Riley that harvests and grows Vetiver grass for local community applications and use. It is based in Beachmere, just north of Brisbane, Australia.
