Event Description

Verge gardening is now allowed in Brisbane! But how do you create a successful verge garden? This workshop will cover various aspects of verge gardening to improve your chances of success, including:
* what style of verge garden suits you and your verge?
* public safety and access
* soil improvement and care
* appropriate plant choices
* how to care (or not!) for a verge garden
* concerns with weeds and water restrictions
* sharing produce and plants
* edible verge gardens
* verge gardens for wildlife,
* setting up a verge garden on a budget
...
 
Cost is $45 pp and includes afternoon tea and a free plant from June's Home Grown Plants.

Yep! I left in 2001 and moved to DBay in 2002. The new owners gutted the house, raised it up and I don't know what if anything, they did with the garden.

Sounds wonderful. I used to live in Fairfield so we could have almost been neighbours ... would love to have come but it's a trial for me now to travel from Deception Bay into town.

GrowVetiver

Vetiver grass helps to stabilise soil and protects it against erosion.  It can protect against pests and weeds. Vetiver is also used as animal feed. (Wiki.)

GrowVetiver is a plant nursery run by Dave & Keir Riley that harvests and grows Vetiver grass for local community applications and use. It is based in Beachmere, just north of Brisbane, Australia.
