The first of a practical series leading you into a productive and sustainable permaculture gardening experience. Throughout the whole permaculture series you will learn how to create a permaculture garden in the suburbs. (For best outcomes book 3 consecutive workshops.) Cost: $65 each or 3 for $185
Workshop 1 and 2 Sat 31 July 9-12 then 1-4pm Roma Street Parkland
You are introduced to a world of possibilities and abundance. We cover principles, ethics and how permaculture works for you to create a more fertile and productive garden. BYO picnic lunch to enjoy in the gardens.
Workshop 2 We work with principles of permaculture to learn how to make compost tea and green manure tea to nourish our plants; check out energy recycling and growing from seed in preparation for your own garden planting, explore patterns in nature and visit a local community garden for inspiration.
Workshop 3 Sat 7 Aug 9-12 Ecobotanica Wishart
You’ll experience how permaculture works in the suburbs to create an intensively productive space. We start your garden concept plan and work out ideas for mimicking nature to achieve your garden goals.
SUBURBAN PERMACULTURE SERIES 2 Cost: $65 each or 3 for $185
Workshop 4 Sat 21 Aug 9-12 Roma Street Parkland
Design a family food garden from your concept plan in workshop 3. Learn how to create plant guilds and microclimates for terrific plant growth. We also check out suburban windbreak plants, keeping chickens and stingless bees.
Workshop 5 Sat 28 Aug 9-12 Roma Street Parkland
Investigate how to design soil fertility into your garden with worms and compost. Find out how pest management works in your permaculture garden and create natural habitats to encourage the good guys.
Workshop 6 Sat 18 Sept 9-12 Ecobotanica Wishart
How to harvest and use water in your garden, design rain gardens and build swales. We’ll also identify and taste some edible weeds and learn how and what to sprout at home.
SUBURBAN PERMACULTURE SERIES 3 Cost: $65 each or 3 for $185
Workshop 7 & 8 Sat 25 Sept 9-3.30 Ecobotanica Wishart
Not all useful plants are edible. We grow plants for fibre, dyes and many other uses in your suburban garden. We’ll also explore herb spirals, seed saving and heritage seeds. BYO lunch or a light lunch available for $15.
In the afternoon, learn how to design a food forest into your suburban permaculture garden. Find out which small trees will provide you with shade, timber, fruit and play areas.
Workshop 9 Sat 9 Oct 9-12 Ecobotanica Wishart
We look at aquaponics; check out community resources and connections for you at home, alternative food systems and income opportunities from your garden and community.
