Discover the joys of successfully growing fresh vegetables in your own backyard. Hosted by our master kitchen gardener himself, this seasonal workshop series covers propagating your own plants from seed, pests and diseases, appropriate watering and feeding strategies, planting suitability (e.g. pots, raised beds) and when you can expect to harvest your yummy vegetables.
The focus is on vegetables suited to South East Queensland backyards and workshop participants have the chance to explore tasty and unusual varietals not widely available in the stores. Enjoy a walk through the amazing kitchen garden, plant up your own 10 pack of winter veggie seeds to take home and listen to 3rd generation farmer Dale King, as he imparts the secret to growing broccoli (Romanesco) and cauliflower (purple) heads, heirloom carrots, kale and cabbage. Then share a warming ‘vege’ soup made from our kitchen garden produce.
All materials supplied. Wear a hat and covered shoes. Bring a snack and keep cup or water bottle. Meet at the Kitchen in the Garden.
Always add photos using the "From my computer" option, even if you are on a mobile phone or other device.
