Event Description

Sat November 29th @ 8:00AM - 05:00PM
Permablitz #29 Greenslopes

Our place is in Greenslopes on a pretty standard flat, 405m block, raised post war house, front of house faces west. Family of 3, plus 2 cats who like a bit of space to play in. Love to continue to reduce our usage and waste wherever possible.

Plans for the permablitz…Convert our yard and junk into more efficient, productive space and structures. Major obstacle is a 3.6m trampoline which is scheduled to have an aquaponics tank dug into the ground underneath (at a later date). The garden beds need moving to more appropriate placements with new drip lines. An aviary is being converted into a chicken coop and will need a fence put in place. A small ornamental pond will be installed, and lots of plants to be transplanted to their more ideal places in the yard. Wicking beds introduced to the westerly-baked front yard, with some new fruit trees to go in.

A workshop on building an aquaponics system will run, and the grow beds for the new aquaponics system put into place.

Almost all of the materials have been collected from kerbside rubbish over the last few months, and I would love ideas for reusing junk to make cool stuff in the garden - wastage sucks!
I would love any Comfrey and pigeon pea plants if people have some in excess to share. Also any recommendations for plants that can handle full sun in hot dry conditions as buffers.

I am still looking for suitable growbeds for the aquaponics - wanting approximately 2m x 1.2m of bed space roughly 30cm deep if anyone has suitable vessels they are happy to offload.

Of course, food and drinks provided on the day, hoping for an early start and have the workshop to break the day up. I am very good at catering for all dietary restrictions just let me know by email what your requirements are.

Please RSVP to or 0422491949 and let us know if you have specific dietary requirements. There is a limit of 25 people.
