Event Description

SUNDAY 6TH NOVEMBER 9.30 TO 4.00

After years of community gardening, Gillian and Aaron finally have their own bit of land ripe for a Permablitz!

Their goals are:

We aim to make the best use of our space to grow a range of fruits, vegetables and nuts to feed our new family. We want to build on what we have already created to make a calming and nurturing place for all the creatures we share it with, including our chickens and the local wildlife. We imagine it as a place where we can contemplate, play, eat and share with our family and loved ones.

Projects include:
• Upgrading the chicken coop
• Building corrugated iron compost bays
• Creating a mandala garden with swale paths
• Building a herb spiral
• No-dig garden beds
• Planting dwarf fruit trees
• Extending the native plantings

Workshops include:
• The how and why of herb spirals
• Keeping backyard chickens
• Building the compost heap of the century!

Things you should definitely bring along with your good self include: a hat, a water bottle and some well fitted gloves.

If you can, please also bring wheelbarrows, shovels, mattocks, pitchforks or wire cutters. Finally, if you have allergies or are asthmatic bring along a mask for shovelling compost or mulch. And if you’re going to work with power tools, then bring along some safety goggles.

RSVP is required to: Gillian 0415 170 814, needarts@tpg.com.au
