Saturday, 21 June 2014, 08:30am - 05:00pm

Our Sankey St home is a long-held rental on a terraced slope in Highgate Hill, just opposite Paradise Park. The yards around the house are currently a bit of a hodge-podge… some a bit overgrown, others that go through various stages of garden rebirth and slumber. There is some consistency in the hardy pawpaw, lemongrass, aloe vera, and some potted herbs and seedlings, but we’ve been dreaming of Blitzing the place for a while to really transform the garden, learn how to feed our home and share with friends… we’re keen for some hands and heads to help bring it to fruition!

Some of the bigger projects planned for Sankey Street include a rainwater harvesting/distribution system (from the gutters and concrete culvert), building a self-watering bathtub planter box, a few raised garden beds, pumpkin patch from hay bales, two food forests, and creating a natural fence by moving some of the pre-existing vegetation around. We’ll be doing some prep work, and hope to finish a couple of these before the Permablitz comes around.

We’ll happily feed anyone who turns up, provide endless cups of tea/coffee, and would appreciate you bringing along gardening tools, shovels, gloves, a hat, a water bottle, and any little seedlings or cuttings you’ve got that are looking for a happy home!
