This experiential two day course gives you a balance of both practical and theory in a beautiful setting on 5 acres at 7 Hogan Court, Camp Mountain, 30 minutes from the Brisbane CBD and 5 minutes from Ferny Grove station.
The property has newly established vegetable and fruit tree growing areas and is managed using a combination organic, permaculture and Biodynamic principles. The course presenter, Peter Kearney moved to the property in January 2014. Peter Kearney, has lived in the Samford area for 17 years and created a large an and productive organic/biodynamic garden on his previous 5 acre property. The content of the course is personalised to your own food garden situation and as such, the numbers for the workshop are limited to 12 people.
During the weekend you will:
Learn how make humus rich compost, and get the most value from it
Understand how to plan and manage your vegetable gardens, orchard and herb gardens, no matter what starting point you have, using time tested organic methods enhanced with biodynamics.
Learn how you can create the highest quality soil using biodynamic methods.
Understand how to maintain the vitality of your food plants so they resist pests and diseases and how to establish an ideal balance of life in your food growing spaces.
Appreciate how working with biodynamic methods to enhance your organic garden can produce the highest quality food with the least physical inputs of any growing method.
Peter Kearney is an experienced workshop presenter, educator and organic gardener. He has worked with, studied and taught organic gardening with biodynamic gardening methods for over 14 years. Peter is the founder of www.cityfoodgrowers.com.au and a member of Biodynamic Agriculture Australia and in 2011 and 2014 presented at their National Conference. In the course, Peter talks from his own practice at his beautiful property in Samford.
The course fee is $300 per person. A discount of $20 per person for coming along with a friend or partner is available. Numbers are limited to a maximum of 14 people per course so payment in advance is required. Payment by credit card or bank transfer required as early as possible prior to the event to confirm your booking.
