Event Description

This workshop alternates between slide presentations and a practice session to build a strong foundation of knowledge and experience. The presentations cover the topics of bee nesting and biology, diversity of wild bees, importance of bees in natural systems, traditional stingless beekeeping around the world, modern stingless beekeeping in Australia, using stingless bees for pollination of gardens and farms, sugerbag honey and its properties, rescuing bees threatened in teh wild and more.

In the practical session, we will open a hive and observe the amazing structures within. We will divide the hive into two halves showing the process of colony propagation. We will also extract honey from a hive.

This workshop is $85 or $65 with a centrelink healthcare card.

Hi - you might want to Edit out the RSVP here for the event. Many people think ticking the box on this website equates to booking with the organisers.

Please add the cost also.

VETIVER COMMUNITY PROJECT

Vetiver grass helps to stabilise soil and protects it against erosion.  It can protect against pests and weeds. Vetiver is also used as animal feed. (Wiki.)

The Vetiver Community Project is a plant nursery run by Dave & Keir Riley that harvests and grows Vetiver grass for local community applications and use. It is based in Beachmere, just north of Brisbane, Australia.
