Event Description

Friday, 5 August - Joel Salatin Workshop.

Registration desk opens at 8am for a 9am start.

Join Joel Salatin, world renowned innovative farmer, author and local food advocate for a unique one-day workshop looking at how to make your small farm more ethical, profitable and deeply integrated with your local community.

A jam-packed day of essential knowledge and a chance to meet other like-minded people from across QLD who are passionate about local, clean food and creating on-farm livelihoods.

It will cover PolyFace Farm's animal systems, including pastured poultry, salad bar beef, forested pigerator pork and the main-frame design of the farm; Joel's 'relationship marketing' techniques where the farm interfaces directly with consumers, cutting out the middle men and keeping things clean, honest and real; and how his farm approaches their internship program, providing young people with a chance to learn PolyFace's techniques, while providing the Salatin family with an enthusiastic labor force which further benefits the farm.

Joel is unlikely to be back again soon and certainly not at the current price. His new book is backed by a major NY publisher, so he's expected to go mainstream as of September onwards.

Registration includes lunch and morning tea, lovingly prepared by Amy and the Food Connect team using local, in-season and organic produce sourced from farms in the region.

Held at the Beerwah and District Community Hall, Peachester Road, Beerwah (near library).

Thank you Anne.

Wish I could go but it's a work day. You can hopefully give us some feedback via BLF or Green Journey.
