Event Description

SATURDAY 23RD SEPTEMBER, 10.00AM - 3.00PM

SUNDAY 24TH SEPTEMBER 10.00AM - 3.00PM

Combined Garden Visit and Cheese Workshop.

After many requests to me for a Cheese Making Workshop, I have now decided to put one into EVENTS for the year. I am not a tutor of Cheese Making but a very enthusiastic Fromager who can guide you through the fundamentals.

In this workshop we will be making a variety of cheeses that will be either finished or finished only requiring aging at home.

To finish all Cheeses listed you will need a week-end as some need overnight settling or draining. If you can only come for one day you won't make as many Cheeses but will have something to take home. If you are really wanting to do the workshop but distance from me is a problem for you then may like to think about sharing accommodation in one of the Motels we have handy to us. We do have a very comfortable Double/Queen Pull out Sofa and a comfortable Lounge and 1 single bed available for anyone interested in staying over.

Learn the techniques on how to make - A Starter, Chabichou, Quark, Persian Feta, Camembert and or Brie, Ricotta and Fetta.

There will be no charge for the workshop.

Please bring something along for Lunch and Morning & Afternoon Tea on both days.

If there is anyone who is wanting to come along on either day to look around the garden, and see what lovely cheeses we are making, you are welcome, as we will be having Cheese Tasting on both days. We will need numbers for non- Cheesemakers as well as Cheesemakers so as we have enough nibbles for everyone.

Depending on the class size will determine the cost of the ingredients needed eg. Milk and Cream etc. As I only use Pasteurized Milk it is probably easier for me to get all milk that will be needed. $'s will be costed out as soon as we have numbers for the class.

Here is the list of supplies you will need to make your cheeses –

We will be working in pairs for this exercise, if you are coming alone please let me know as you may be able to use my supplies as I will not be making cheese on the days.

You are both too kind, we did have fun and do you know I can't remember even talking about gardening, only the rain and hail Mary-Ann had and we didn't have a drop of.

Thanks Mary-Ann for all the Goodies, have frozen the strawberry Guava for use as juice.

Thanks Roger for the lovely Slice you made and the Ginger, Turmeric and Pumpkin.

yes Roger it was fascinating watching and Learning from Dianne - it was privilege and an honour to have had her to myself for a weekend of fun learning and practising cheese, making skills ! THANK YOU

Many thanks must go to Dianne for her generosity and patience when showing me how to make Brie last week. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and was amazed at the wide variety of cheeses Dianne has on the go. I found the making of Brie quite easy to understand. It is easy when you have someone as clever and patient as Dianne to tutor you. I have another week or so to let the cheese mature and will be very keen to try other cheeses once my initial efforts have been successful. I found that in making the Brie it does not require a lot of equipment and I will gradually build up what I need. I will not be getting ahead of myself though and will keep the expansion of what I make to a minimum as I develop my skill and understanding of the processes. Thanks again to Dianne for her patient teaching, it was a great experience!

The address for the week-end has been sent out but for those who don't have it please let me know by sending me an SMS on 0407691485.

Everyone is welcome to come along and see Mary-Ann and I making cheese on both days.

I have been busily making cheese over 3 week-ends for you to sample as well as I will be cracking open some that have been aging in the Cave for a couple of years. If you are here for morning or afternoon tea you may like to bring something along to share that isn't cheese.

Hi Everyone, Could all those members who want to come along and join with me Cheesemaking on 23 Sat and 24 Sunday please let me know if you will be here as I need numbers so as I organize my kitchen for this.

Also this event is to replace a REAL GV at my place this year so if you would like to come along and try some Cheeses etc. and look around the garden, please come along but don't be too critical of my garden this year as I have had a lot going on in my life this year and the garden had to take a break from me.
