Event Description

This Saturday 4 February, 9am to midday

First plant sale for 2012...and all plants are still just $2.10 each*!

This month’s feature plants:

Peanut Tree

Sterculia quadrifida

A handsome bush tree that will grow from 6m to 18m depending on nutrients and water at the site.

The tree is mostly deciduous in winter.  Despite the name the fruits are not particularly tasty.

Wombat Berry

Eustrephus latifolius

A slender climber to about 1m.  Leaves are narrow and plant does not become aggressive in the garden.

Dainty white flowers are followed by orange fruits with shiny black seeds inside.

Native Indigo

Indigofera australis

Attractive open shrub to 1.5m with heads of pink pea-shaped flowers that give way to long bright-green seed pods.

Will grow in full sun or semi-shade.  Can tolerate some drought but will grow better with regular watering.

Native Mint Bush

Prostanthera ovalifolia

An attractive, dense shrub to about 2m.  Leaves are strongly fragrant and it is covered in attractive purple bell flowers in spring.  Hardy in most garden situations and will benefit from pruning after flowering.
