Due to the popularity of previous wicking bed workshops, we start the year converting four (small) existing corrugated-iron raised beds to wicking beds, so it will be a practical, hands-on experience for all those wanting to learn how to set up their own wicking beds. A wicking bed is basically a raised bed with a water reservoir in the bottom where water is wicked up to the plant’s roots by capillary action; in the process, the soil in the garden bed stays constantly moist and cool and there is far less water loss, with lots of happy, healthy plants as a result. Don’t forget to wear a hat and bring along your water bottle.
Meet near the aquaponics.
This workshop is free and will run for approximately 1½ to 2 hours.
Bookings NOT required
Always add photos using the "From my computer" option, even if you are on a mobile phone or other device.

GrowVetiver is a plant nursery run by Dave & Keir Riley that harvests and grows Vetiver grass for local community applications and use. It is based in Beachmere, just north of Brisbane, Australia.
