Event Description

The Hands On Permaculture workshop is for those who wish to get their hands in the earth & learn about Permaculture by DOING IT!  The program is equally suitable for beginners and permaculture course graduates wishing to gain practical knowledge.  This workshop is also a great way to experience the Crystal Waters ecovillage.

& learn about Permaculture by DOING IT!

VENUE: Crystal Waters Permaculture Village, Conondale QLD Australia (near Maleny)
This workshop is one of best ways to experience Crystal Waters for the first time and is equally suitable for beginners and permaculture course graduates wishing to gain practical knowledge.

During the workshop you will have the opportunity to:
- learn about the concepts of permaculture design
- enjoy a guided walk through Crystal Waters
- build a no-dig vegie and herb garden
- set up successful compost and worm systems
- make organic liquid fertiliser
- learn basic propagation and seed saving skills
- create a water-wise garden
- create a balcony garden
- create plant guilds
- tend to fruit trees
- experience life in a permaculture village
- meet others interested in permaculture, share ideas and knowledge
- relax in beautiful surrounds, go bushwalking and swimming
- meet the abundant wildlife and more.....

DAY 2
Permaculture Garden Design
Permaculture Garden practical
Small scale and balcony gardening
Lunch
Water in the landscape
Creating and maintaining a food forest
Creating a native and bushfoods garden

 

COURSE FEE: AU$295
This includes
- Internationally experienced Permaculture teachers
- Comprehensive course notes

- Camping site or bunkhouse accommodation with hot shower/toilet facilities
- Healthy and delicious meals and refreshments
- The opportunity to stay in an award-winning Permaculture Village.

ACCOMMODATION
A camping site or a bed in the bunkhouse is included in the workshop fee at the Crystal Waters Camping Ground for Saturday 19th November. Toilets, hot showers and kitchenette are available there. Please bring your own tent and linen. If you wish to upgrade to the guesthouse, B&B, or cabin accommodation a surcharge will apply. Please ask for details.


MEALS
All meals are included in the workshop fee. The menu will be vegetarian and using as much local and organic food as possible. If you have any food allergies, please inform us so that we can discuss how your food needs can be met.

GrowVetiver

Vetiver grass helps to stabilise soil and protects it against erosion.  It can protect against pests and weeds. Vetiver is also used as animal feed. (Wiki.)

GrowVetiver is a plant nursery run by Dave & Keir Riley that harvests and grows Vetiver grass for local community applications and use. It is based in Beachmere, just north of Brisbane, Australia.
