Growing Potatos,Garlic and other essential root crops
Join us for a hands-on morning digging in the dirt and learning all there is to know about growing Potatoes, Garlic, Turmeric, Yams, Ginger, Galangal,Yacon, Sweet Potaoes here in South East Queensland. Gary Hands from Kookaburra Organics is sharing his wealth of knowledge and demonstrating how easy it is to grow root crops.
Have you ever wondered about the best to plant a potato? Have you wondered when to harvest your garlic and other root crops?. This is a hands on workshop which will provide you an understanding of the growing process from planting to harvest.

Gary Hands is an Organic grower of fresh produce including survival & Heirloom plants. Kookaburra Farm is a Organic and sustainable, naturally farmed market garden on the Sunshine Coast,Qld.
Gary is well known for his knowledge in organic growing in both temperate & sub–tropical areas. He is a regular speaker at Garden Clubs, Sustainability Expo's and Organic Food groups. He regularly presents a range of vegetable growing workshops catering for beginners through to the very experienced gardener. Victoria is an Urban Farmer and Cafe owner based on the Sunshine Coast. Growing her own food in a sustainable and cost effective system.
Passionate about education and empowering people and communities to grow and eat Clean, Nutritional dense homegrown food.
Whilst new to the Sunshine Coast Victoria has already established a highly productive low-cost vegetable garden. Raising her own seedlings, establishing a large worm farm to accommodate the cafe & household waste turning into liquid gold for her Urban Farm.

Vetiver grass helps to stabilise soil and protects it against erosion. It can protect against pests and weeds. Vetiver is also used as animal feed. (Wiki.)
GrowVetiver is a plant nursery run by Dave & Keir Riley that harvests and grows Vetiver grass for local community applications and use. It is based in Beachmere, just north of Brisbane, Australia.
