Event Description

SUNDAY JULY 10TH 2016 FROM 10AM TO 12PM

Come visit our very own Elaine's in their Wicking Paradise.

Elaine will hold two visits close together as usual - one on Friday 8th and the other Sunday 10th.

From Elaine:

On-street parking. Short uphill walk to back yard which is flat. No fences in the front part of the garden. A couple of spare folding chairs will be handy.

If ever a garden can be said to be 'finished' ours is close to that. In that we've upwards of 2 dozen wicking beds or bins and that's about as many as we can fill. So far most plants are doing well. Some are around 5 years in the bins and have fruited each year for us. Others are just hitting their straps and coming into fruit for the first time.

If you're interested in wicking beds, we have a number of different styles and are happy to discuss wicking beds and their variants. We do have some plants in the ground so it is not all wicking beds! The Hugelkultur bed should be close to being used by GV time.

We're happy to have BLFers along on the Friday and/or the Sunday.

Children welcome but must be supervised by parents at all times.

Please bring a small plate of food or drink to share and any plants, produce or seed that you would like to share, swap or sell.

It is always a good idea to bring along a chair as we do sometimes have more visitors than chairs available at GV gardens.

RSVP required so that the address can be sent to you closer to the date. The email address you nominated when you joined will be used. Please update this if it has changed.

Late attendees welcome. Message Dianne or phone 0407691485 on the day for the address.

Thank You so much Elaines for hosting this GV.

Looking forward to tomorrow Elaine, and I haven't forgotten about the morning tea I am to make, but you did forget to remind me.

I wouldn't mind a couple of Grape Prunings, thanks Cathie....

Planning to come tomorrow with camera and am happy to make photos available to upload to the site. You'll just have to coach me on how to do that! Will bring some seeds to share - tromboncino anyone? And plan to bring some grape prunings if anyone is interested.

Prior commitment tomorrow so I can't make it. Still the good thing for you Elaine is that you will have a smaller more manageable group to see your garden and the weather looks good

Sorry Elaine, I so wanted to come and see your garden but we are going away that weekend too.

Still Abbey weekend ladies.  I hope it's a great fun visit!

There are lots of plants to take cuttings from or to dig up. Eg Comfrey, Lucerne, perennial Leek and Sugar Cane. The Comfrey especially are very big plants with long roots. Bring bags e.g. 30L potting mix bags. I have some newspapers but few plastic bags.

Sorry to miss this Elaine. I'll be down with my Grandsons, school holidays.

Sorry Elaine - wanted to come along and check out how your garden is progressing, but unless this outing gets cancelled Grandson wins out.

Dianne will sort out someone to take photos I'm sure.

I'm keen to see someone bring their camera and take a few pix. A report would be good too ;-) Either day, Friday or Sunday.
