Ann has written a little piece about her garden;
We live on a large block which is becoming more difficult to manage because of it's size .We've enjoyed our garden more in our younger days and have planted fruit trees but it is a constant struggle with bush turkeys, flying foxes and possums and I'm losing the battle . However the fruit the animals have kindly left me, namely kumquats and limes, become marmalade , supplying the needs of family and friends .
I've shared jackfruit and sold a number and that has more than paid for my gardening needs.
When the kids were young we bought 3 chooks that provided us with fresh eggs until the foxes and snakes(?) ended their lives.
Now I grow okra, ginger and some Chinese greens.....and the flood in 2011 killed off a number of our productive fruit trees and most of my will . We shall downsize soon and live somewhere with a smaller more manageable garden, but meanwhile I enjoy pottering around .
There is parking on the road and the driveway. There are a five steps to climb to get to the verandah where we will sit. Bring chairs if you can, we have seating for 16 people. Toilet is at Ground Level. Children will have to be supervised as snakes have been seen around.
For those interested in lunch, Fairfield gardens , our local shopping precinct , have cafes that serve light lunches.
Children welcome but must be supervised by parents at all times.
Please bring a small plate of food or drink to share and any plants, produce or seed that you would like to share, swap or sell.
It is always a good idea to bring along a chair as we do sometimes have more visitors than chairs available at GV gardens.
RSVP required so that the address can be sent to you closer to the date. The email address you nominated when you joined will be used. Please update this if it has changed.
Late attendees welcome. Message Dianne or phone 0407691485 on the day for the address.
