Event Description

05.04.15 ADDRESS HAS BEEN SENT OUT TO THOSE WHO RSVP'd.

LATE ATTENDEES WELCOME. PLS MESSAGE LISSA OR PH ME ON THE MORNING.

SATURDAY 11TH APRIL 10AM TO 12NOON

Many of you would have been following the blogs of Dave Riley and his efforts to grow productively in the sandy soil of Beachmere.

This is your chance to come check out Dave's garden in person!

From Dave:

Large backyard polycultural garden -- PolyVegg Garden -- built upon beach sand watered by terracotta pots.

Primarily growing annuals. Experimenting with plants that suit my sandy conditions...and acid soils.

Beds built up using primarily grass clippings, other mulches and local manures.

Current fad: edible succulents and tier layering of creepers to ground covers. Shade experiment using frangipanis.

Usually have enough produce to stock local monthly market stall.

The land is flat but my paths are narrow and higgledy piggledy and require some dexterity to navigate. Will not suit wheel chairs or folk with significant vision impairment...or running children.

Straightforward to find. Only house with vegetation on the nature strip. Mosaic letterbox. (Plenty of street parking).

Plenty of chairs. Large veranda outback.

Dave has two small well behaved dogs.

Children welcome but must be supervised by parents at all times.

Please bring a small plate of food or drink to share and any plants, produce or seed that you want to share, swap or sell.

RSVP required for the address to be sent closer to the date to the email address you nominated when you joined.

Late attendees welcome. Message Lissa or phone me on the day for the address. I might be driving and SMS cannot be responded to.

I have to bring:

Dragonfruit cuttings -red with white centre

Elderfower cuttings

passionfruit

seed - Snowpea Climbing Oregon Giant - 4–5 inches snow peas are tender and succulent, with sweeter flavor than the Sugar Pod 2. The disease resistant, 24–36 inches vines produce well all summer in mild climates with sufficient water. The Oregon Giant snow pea seeds plant is short at 1.2m (4′). Very resistant to pea enation virus and powdery mildew.

seed - Jame's beans - climber - green pod, good producer

Nopales - I'm bringing one for Dave as requested. Does anyone else want a pad to grow?
