Event Description

Garden visit at Elaine and Elaines at Deception Bay. Come and meet the Wicking Bed Queens!

From Elaine:

Our major makeover with transferring most of the fruit trees to wicking bins should be completed by then. We've a new space in a former greenhouse with heat-loving plants one side and cool-loving plants the other side. Everything that can be in a wicking bin or pot is in one.

No steps but a short incline from the road should be OK for most folks. Anyone with walking difficulties can be driven to the top of the driveway, it's flat from there. Backyard is flat, front yard is on a slope.

No dogs, prefer no kids because of no front fences.

Please bring a small plate of food or drink to share and any plants or produce that you would like to give away, swap or sell.

RSVP required for the address to be sent closer to the date to the email address you nominated when you joined.

Late attendees welcome. Message Lissa or phone on the day for the address.

It's easy. Check HERE at the Garden Visit Group (see menu top of the page), read the blurb and contact Lissa.

You can send me a new description for the visits if you want to Elaine. Easy fixed.

Just don't realise how fast things change in the garden. Reading through the entry I see the greenhouse and the shadecloth mentioned.

The Greenhouse turns out to be much hotter than we thought and there's no real place for 'cool-loving' plants.

Shadecloth over the Dragon Fruit was a disaster. It might have stopped sunburn but it stopped flowering too. And the new growth was long and lanky.

It's been removed now and awaiting replacement with some vege net.

Sorry girls I am still in Blackbutt that weekend

We've now had some shadecloth added to the front garden, specifically for the Dragon Fruit which were being sun-burned. Changes the micro-climate quite noticeably. And re-planted the front garden and added more wicking bins here and there.
