Event Description

SUNDAY 14 July 10.00AM - 12.00PM

Agenda for

Andy and His Rozie’s Garden Visit:  14 July 2019

10.00 – 10.30:  Arrive, meet and introduce yourselves. Someone remind Andy to make sure there is tea, coffee and cold water!  (He’ll be all nervous and silly on the day.)

10.30 – 11.00/15-ish:  Garden tour.  Somebody take photos to share on the web site!

11.15-ish - 11.45:  Eat, drink, chat and be merry.

11.45 – 12.(whenever):  FREE LESSON:  how to … do some weird thing that Andy likes to do.  I haven’t decided what it will be yet.  Beheading, gutting and plucking a quail didn’t seem very popular in the random telephone pole that I conducted.  I guess I’ll need something else.

<EDIT>  OKay, the lesson will be "How to make easy, no-cook sauces."  I think that during walk around we can gather some greens and then make pesto.  I reckon I might also show you my Thai peanut dipping sauce recipe mostly just because it tastes so good.  Yes, I do have two peanut bushes.  Didn't get a single nut though!  I'll explain why at the visit. Rookie mistake.

EVENT

It’s winter so the tiny farm is in decline.  I’m happy enough to show it off like that because it’s a fact of life that all gardeners face.  The bigger, south side of the yard gets very little sun now so it might give a few tips on how I get through that type of situation.  The smaller, north side should be okay so that might help folks who are starting out and get reasonable winter sun as well.

Andy and Rozie's yard is small and flat, although the front driveway has a slight incline (which should be easily managed).  There is ample seating and the yard is fully fenced.

IMPORTANT SAFETY WARNINGS WHILST ON SITE:

Guard dogs Bobbie Cumberland and Benny Beaterbum will bid you with a very loud welcome.  Please try not to frighten the little fellows too much or let them out.  Whilst Bobbie will probably run and hide, Benny will attempt to lick you to death.

Take care around the attack chooks. They aren't house trained so try to avoid stepping in poop.  Hopefully, the quails will do their best to be cute for you.   You’ll have trouble seeing much in the aquaponics tank.  It’s winter so the lads don’t do or eat much at this time of year.

I am bringing galangal and maranta. I am looking for a cranberry hibiscus cutting if anybody has any.

Sorry Andy and Roz, was looking forward to catching up but the flu has caught up with me and don't want to spread it. Hopefully will catch up soon.

Now, I'm not going to say this will work.  However, I am experimenting with Madegaska bean falafels for the GV.

Ah, I forgot to mention ... I no longer drive so we cannot get down to your place.
