Event Description

SUNDAY  13st January 9.30am TO 12.00pm

PLEASE NOTE -  the earlier start due to the Warm Weather

This will be a WELCOME 2021 GV - Our 1st for the Year

A little about Dianne & Graham's Garden -

Ours is an Old Garden 42years. It has grown over the years with many Add-Ons & Changes. As the changes have been made so has the reason for our Garden.

As we age many areas have been turned into rooms, most with a seat to rest before moving on to the next task, or just Sit, Meditate or Read. We have a small Vegetable Garden in which we have been Bale & Ground Gardening, Rose Garden, Fern & Other Garden (being renewed at the moment, donations gladly accepted) as well as a Couple of Cottage Gardens. We grow many Topiary Citrus, a Fig Forest, Guavas and Tropical Fruit Trees. We grow many Salvias and Other Flowers to attract Butterflies & Bees.

Our garden is what some may call Old Fashioned (a little like us), I love Flowers and Graham loves Lawn (I know we could grow food there but we already have enough room to grow what we want). So you will see our Garden a little differently this time, if you have been here before.

We look forward to Seeing Many of our BLF Friends at our GV.

LUNCH:

If you would like to join us we would like to go for a Lunch to a popular Vietnamese Restaurant after our GV, please indicate here if you would like to join us.

The address will be sent closer the date. The address is always sent to your email you signed up with, if it is different you will need to change it in your profile

As this may be an event where we need to have particular numbers due to Covid Restrictions, we may need to Limit the number attending. It will be those 1st in to RSVP that will be able to attending, so please be sure you can make it or you may be taking the place of others.

Children welcome but must be supervised by parents at all times.

Please bring a small plate of Food or Drink to share, and any plants, produce or seed that you would like to share, swap or sell.

It is always a good idea to bring along a chair as we do sometimes have more visitors than chairs available at GV gardens.

Please note the earlier start time of 9.30am, you will be excused if you are a little late. I will have a few books to sell as I have over a thousand books here that are not yet listed on my eBay site, I am selling those not listed (well over 1,000 more) for a donation of $1 to no more than $10 most are Cook Books, Old, New, Diet, Donna Hay, Well Know TV Chefs. I will be giving the money use for to BLF to be used for Raffles, etc. (if we sell enough), not all will be out of course but if you are looking for a certain Cook Book I may have it, there will be a few Garden Books but not many left.

Address will be sent out on Saturday or please text or phone me on 0407691485 for details.

Well it is only a couple of days to the GV, it's time to take a rest and just enjoy the garden (smell the roses, I wish), the weeds will have to wait. I hope you will enjoy your time in our garden, it may not be back to it's old original self but you will find a few new & revamped parts to the old place. So please come and Enjoy the Fun and Laughter of our group, see you Sunday, Cheers... Dianne

Yes Sophie, I too hope my GV goes off as I had to cancel last year due to the Corona hitting. Yes I am feeling a little better but can't rid the pain across my back, hence my gardening has slowed down, but it is what it is!!!

Gosh I hope this corona stuff settles down by the 31st to still have this GV. Dianne, I hope you are feeling better x
I was planning to host one this year but won't be til later in the year, corona pending.

Yes Christa since going into hospital on Boxing Day for almost a week things have slowed down here quite a bit, but I am back with a vengeance (they may say, probably doing everything I have been told not to do).

The Garden is looking OK needs a weed and plenty of old Flowers cut off. Speaking of flowers, I did a silly thing though, a couple of weeks ago and cut back my Salvias as a lot had almost finished flowering, so here's hoping they will be back to there lovely carefree selves by the end of the month.

It is a very busy time here at the moment - we have the Treescape people coming next week to clean Palms (one is a Wine Palm and has 2 Umbrella Trees & a Moreton Bay Fig growing out of it, have been reluctant to do this before as there is a Possum living in it), cut out 2 Plums that have been in for over 15 years and not produced enough to warrant the space. Plus we are having the Tea Tree & Rev Gold cut back to let more light in (will be saving the Mulch for the garden) .

The Sub-Tropical Fern & Plant Corner is Under Construction - Graham has drilled holes into 42 year old concrete, broken several good drills and hung my wall baskets and others to the ceiling. He has also been very busy with the watering system making sure these plants are now on a line of their own where they will get a little water each day (this can always be changed on the system as the weather cools down.

My very old English Teak Bench in the back yard just decided one day to fall apart, I have kept the Ladder shaped strip off the back and intend to use it in the garden somewhere. We have a lovely new seat being made and should be in place for our GV.

Really looking forward to your pretty flowers, roses and huge array of fruit trees.  As you have been unwell and need some time to re-coup,

I am sure your garden visitors will be amazed at how much you try to do.
