Event Description

SUNDAY  28th February  11.00am TO 2.00pm

A Little from Sid:-

My spiel -

Come for a Garden Visit to Sid's newly acquired dream property. It's a Sunday so make sure you take in the Caboolture Markets ( en route to stock up on inexpensive seedlings (tip stolen from Dave, thanks Dave!).

Sid's new home is a beautiful block in Wamuran that was previously a goat milking farm. It's just over five acres of almost completely useable land with existing gardens set up. We'll be moving in only a few days before, so the home will be in a shamble of boxes, but we'll get everything set up well enough!

Please bring an umbrella, hat or similar shade as there is a fair bit to see. There is on property and across the road parking. Please reserve the on property parking for those who would benefit from the shorter walking distance.

Our main focus will be on exploring and plant identification - there are a LOT of plants here I have little experience with and I would greatly appreciate the wisdom the group has in identifying them. The formal gardens are a short series of steps from the main house but can also be reached via a slope through the fruit trees if anyone needs that. There are many roses planted in the formal gardens and it is unlikely I will want to keep them all so if you like the look of any, or wish to take cuttings from larger plants please feel free to ask. There are also three established Fig trees in the formal garden, so if anyone wants to take a look with the aim of digging them out and taking one or two just let me know - three is more than I need!

I will be looking to convert the formal garden into a permaculture food forest so if anyone has suggestions around this I would also love any tips.

Graham & I will possibly be staying closer to Sid's the night before and others might like to think about that if they are interested.

You may like to bring a small plate of Food or Drink to share for Morning Tea & one to share for lunch, please also bring plate & knife & fork.

You may also need to bring Garden Tools and empty plastic pots of heavy duty bags, depending on just what Sid would like us to do for her.

Also any plants, produce or seed that you would like to share, swap or sell.

It is always a good idea to bring along a chair as we do sometimes have more visitors than chairs available at GV gardens.

Children welcome but must be supervised by parents at all times.

RSVP required so that the address can be sent to you closer to the date. The address will be sent closer the date. The address is always sent to your email you signed up with, if it is different you will need to change it in your profile.

Late attendees welcome. Message Dianne or phone 0407691485 on the day for the address.

It's easy. Check HERE read the blurb and message Dianne

Hi Sid, Unfortunately I am not walking well, still wearing an awkward moonboot.  If you have some plants or trees that can't be identified then maybe a good photo on BLF may shed some light on the unknown trees.  Have a good time with the gang that is coming.

Hi Sid wondering if I can bring our cattledog pup? she's 1 yr old and the only way we'd be able to make it is on our way back from the coast... She would be on a lead (and still in training!) but totally understand if you prefer not - that's fine too

Sid, do you want any coffee tree seedlings? Also if anybody want garlic seeds I have some glen large and pink italian from my last year's crop.

We were so looking forward to our visit to your new place Sid, but due to a fall, (yes another one, I am a Falls Risk) we are unable to make it.

I would still love a couple of your Roses if you are still wanting them removed but only if one of the members attending are willing to dig them up for me with a little soil in a plastic garbage bag (only White, Pink or Cream though as that will fit into me Rose Garden), we would then be able to pick up in Brisbane.

Please everyone enjoy the views out to Sid's, it should be lovely and green if they have had the rain we have enjoyed. Have a wonderful time and I look forward to reading the Report after the GV.

Sid, I don't know how you can say 3 Figs are too many. I have 6 on a tiny block and it's not enough as there are so many lovely varieties with different tastes and different fruiting seasons.

Sorry I can't make it. Have the Sub Tropic Fruit Club visiting my place that day. Prepping for 40-50 visitors! Yikes.
