Event Description

We have had some cancellations of attendees. If you would like to come ring me on 0414 445 581 for the addresses.

We have been invited to join our gardening cousins from the Dayboro & Surrounds Garden Group in beautiful Dayboro for a morning of food, chat, garden visit and BBQ.

Children are welcome but must be supervised at all times. The second property has electric fences.

10.00: Morning Tea and visit at Lynn's garden.

Can attendees bring Morning Tea food items please.

12.00: From there we will move on to Mary-Ann's place for a visit and BBQ lunch of sausages from the local Dayboro Butcher, home of the Sausage Man.

Our hosts will be providing the BBQ lunch but I'm sure any salads etc would be appreciated.

Can anyone bring a folding table or two please?

13.00/14.00: Talk by Anne Gibson, The Micro Gardener. "Digging Deeper into Soil, Plant & Human Health

Anne will be discussing the link between soil, plant and human health and how to create healthy living soil in the garden and containers. She will cover soil properties, microorganisms, nutrients and what to look for in a good quality potting mix. Learn the benefits of making your own potting and seed raising mixes and how to use soil mixes in a variety of ways to raise seeds, propagate and in your garden.

14.00: A tour of Mary-Ann and Colins garden.

16.00: Early tea of leftovers for anyone so inclined.

Lynn and Wayne's place:

Quarter of an acre in suburban Dayboro with a beautiful old home, dogs and cats. Extensive vege beds, espaliered fruit trees, chickens. Slight slope to the block.

PARKING: Please carpool as much as possible. Please do not block neighbours driveways. Turnaround area at the end of Cruice Street. Parking also available in Delaney Rd.

From Mary-Ann:

Chairs would also be appreciated , yes salads, gluten free bread rolls or a plate of finger food sweets (slice biscuits etc) will also be appreciated.

We will provide BBQ food plates cutlery cups etc  tea coffee milk water some juices so if you would want any other drinks please feel free to BYO.

Our place is less than 12 months old so still in development stages - if you are able please park on the road and walk up the hill - limited parking for the less able close to the house or do a drop off and have one member walk up.

Most of the walk around the garden can be accessed by a gentle slope and some stairs - just one area may challenge.

Will guarantee the view will enthrall you.

actually I was thinking the other way around - if people came to us for drop off ,leaving  cars where thee is plenty of car parking on our verge at the bottom of the hill and then carpooled over to Lynn's place where parking is tight .

Good idea Mary-Ann - I will be sure to remind people at Lynn's about carpooling to your place. And about bringing some swap stuff to your place :)

Also good idea re dropping off food stuff direct to your place at 9.30am instead of carrying it around in the heat all morning.

if anyone wants to carpool from 2 Widden place - parking at the bottom of the hill where there is plenty of parking it may be convenient, Parking near the house is reserved for the less able.  I will not be able to attend the morning tea ( if we are to eat at 12 ) so hope someone will bring some things for swapping etc to our place as well !  I will open the gates from 9:30 am for anyone who has anything they wish to drop off for the lunch/ after lunch activities.

I all our crowd turn up there will be 29 members from BLF attending. Plus the members from the Dayboro group.

I know you will all do us proud with morning tea items, home produced/grown if possible but not to worry if it's store bought bikkies.

I will find out from Lynn (our first host) what else is specifically needed. Two people have offered to bring tables, thank you.

Don't forget to bring items to share and swap.

Is there anyone who would like me to bring some of Dave's - "Sour Dough Starter" along to the Dayboro Garden Group Visit. It would be such a shame if I had to throw some out, my jar is literally flowing over.
