Event Description

SATURDAY 21ST MAY, ALL DAY

A few of our members have shown an interest in a visit to Daley's. At last we have organised one for you, it will be on Saturday 21st May.

It will mean an early start (but what gardener doesn't have early starts). More details on times will be given later. It is one thing to order over the internet from Daley's but I think you would all agree that seeing just where your plants are coming from is another thing.

As Daley's open on a Saturday from 10am to 1pm, we have been invited to have a talk with one of the staff members at 9.30am before they open. So have your questions and pen and paper ready.

It has been decided the best place for us to meet up would be on the Mount Lindesay Hwy 1/2 way between Beaudesert and Rathdowney, turn off is at Innisplain Rd just past Tamrookum. From there we will follow each other to the Lions Road (a very pretty area to drive through).

Times for meeting will be posted as soon as we have that worked out for us. A couple of members are making a weekend of this, so you might like to think about that as well. It would be a wonderful place to go driving and sightseeing.

Graham and Mine have been sent via PM already but it would be helpful to have all the others if everyone wouldn't mind sending me theirs.

So far Christa we have 7 definites. 3 are Day Trippers and 4 are going for the week-end. Also if you are Day Tripping you may like to talk to the others who are doing the same and see if they would like to go to the Native Plant Nursery as well, (overnighter will be heading off to Lismore, to visit a nursery on Sunday).

We will meet at the place outlined below at 7.30am (If we are all there a little earlier it would be even better, Graham and I will be there around 7.15am). Don't forget that anyone on the other side of town will have to leave at least an hour earlier to get there by 7.30am. If it helps the meeting point is around 15mins from Beaudesert.

The meeting point will be on the Mount Lindesay Hwy 1/2 way between Beaudesert and Rathdowney, turn off is at Innisplain Rd just past Tamrookum. From there we will follow each other to the Lions Road. At the end of Lions Road there is a donation box that you may like to help them out maintaining the road.

Don't forget your cameras or batteries. Also if you have a flask it may be an idea to take a drink along and something as Daley's told me there is no where there for morning tea. Though by the time we are finished there, we may be looking for somewhere to sit down for lunch.

The talk with Andre at Daley'swill be around 9am before they open at 10am. Bring along a notebook and pencils and any questions you may have (I feel like I am back teaching and you are my students, sorry about that).

Are there many going, Dianne.  We are still thinking about a day visit.  There is another nursery we might visit on the way home, at Burringbar details - http://burringbarrainforestnursery.net/ It would be interesting for someone who likes australian native plants etc.  Are you meeting somewhere.?

Susan has let me know that she will be driving down to Daley's for the Day only. Susan has kindly offered to give anyone a lift who may like to join her for the drive..

Copy of email sent to members re - Daley's Visit

Hi Members,

I am emailing to finalize organizing this weeks day out to Daley's.

I need to know how many people are interested in staying overnight and if you would like to organize your own overnight accommodation or want me to and if you want me to do it I need to know your budget price, you are prepared to pay.

As we are unable to do the Ralph Afflek Sawmill Tour due to having not enough numbers, I have found a Nursery that has excellent reviews and is a Family owned business that we could visit on the Sunday, it sells many varieties of Vegetables Seedling, Gingers, Native Foods, Herbs, Plus much more, from their Local suppliers and Seedling Nursery. They are going to open up especially for us as they only live around the corner. Other Nurseries that we talked about either weren’t open on Saturday or were Wholesale Only.

Graham also thinks no trip to that part of the world is complete without a stop off at Nimbin.

If anyone needs a lift down, or can offer a lift either for the day trip or week-end please let me know.

Please let me know your intentions by return email.

Happy Gardening... Dianne

The days fly by so quickly and in no time the 21st of May will be here. This month we will be on our way down to Daley's Fruit Tree Nursery.

A few members have decided to make a week end of it, I am sure it will be fun as well as informative. Daley's staff are ready for us and will give a talk on arrival before the Nursery opens.

If any other members would like to join in either for the week end or a lovely day drive. Please respond by pressing the RSVP button. Further details will be sent to you in plenty of time to plan your day out.

You've got a good sized group going Dianne :) Excellent. Will be interested to hear the feedback from the outing.

Although most of us will arrive at Daley's together and around the same time, you are of course free to go off and do your own thing afterwards. Perhaps you may like to visit friends down that way, go and have a special lunch with some BLF friends or go on a scenic drive.

As was mentioned at Dave's GV, plants can be purchased at the Nursery and Daley's will deliver them to your door at their normal shipping rates.

If you have any questions please ask.
