Event Description

World’s best to celebrate Queensland producers

TIME Magazine’s ‘World Number 1 Farmer,’ Joel Salatin, will visit Brisbane on Friday, 27 February for a ‘Real Food Street Party’ to celebrate our 10th birthday of pioneering the paddock to plate movement.

Food Connect was established as a social enterprise after founder and ex-farmer Robert Pekin was forced off his dairy farm. The result of Pekin’s vow to create a fairer food industry for all, we are dedicated to forming connections between eaters and those who grow, process and distribute food, ensuring all are recognised and rewarded.

“Since 2005, we’ve been feeding Brisbane and surrounds from local farms, producing honest, high-quality and healthy food, and creating a connection for city folk,” he said.

In addition to Salatin and Georgiadis, we will be joined by international biodiversity and sustainability advocates Slow Food Brisbane.

Community minded sponsors local BCC Councillor Steve GriffithsbankmecuStone & Wood Brewing and Buchi Kombucha have provided great support for our event.”

Local food vendors Sprout Artisan Bakery, YummBox, Uncle Bob’s Cottage wines, the Boiling Pot, Wicked Juices, GG Gourmet and many others will be supplying food and beverages to the event, using fresh, local produce from Food Connect farmers.
