SATURDAY, 24 FEBRUARY AT 9 AM –

BUILD YOUR OWN SOLITARY BEE/INSECT HOTEL WITH KEITH UPWARD

$5.00 members –$15.00 non-members

Where would we be without bees? As far as important species go, they are top of the list. They are critical pollinators: they pollinate 70% of the plant species that feed 90% of the world.

There is a lot of emphasis being placed on both honeybees and Australian native stingless bees but little is ever said about our solitary native bees. Australia has 1500 native bee species of which most of them are solitary.

If you want to preserve these solitary native bees build them some habitat in your garden. Join Keith Upward as he teaches how to make some basic solitary bee/insect hotels.

GrowVetiver

Vetiver grass helps to stabilise soil and protects it against erosion.  It can protect against pests and weeds. Vetiver is also used as animal feed. (Wiki.)

GrowVetiver is a plant nursery run by Dave & Keir Riley that harvests and grows Vetiver grass for local community applications and use. It is based in Beachmere, just north of Brisbane, Australia.
