Build a Native Bee Hive

Sunday 21st & Sunday 28th February 2015 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Over a two-day workshop, Bob the Bee man will walk with you on a journey of building your own Australian Stingless Bee Hive.  You will not only build your hive, but will also learn how to propagate hives and manage your hive or hives into the future.  The two-day workshop is a complete packet, each day compliments the other and enables you to leave with your bees and the confidence of how to look after them.

You will walk away from this workshop not only with a fully built and functional Australian Stingless Bee hive, but a great deal of knowledge about how to manage Australian Stingless bees – as well as the bees themselves!

You will learn all you need to manage and grow your own Australian Stingless Bees including:

Day 1:

• An education session on Australian Stingless Bees, what they need in terms of housing and where they need to be located
• Step-by-step tuition on how to build an Australian Native Bee box
• Working in pairs, you will build a total of two boxes over the course of the day – meaning that each member of the pair will have a hive to take home
• All materials will be provided (included in the workshop cost)

Day 2:

• You will learn about maintaining an Australian Native Bee colony
• You will learn how to grow your bees by working with Bob on how to propagate a hive
• You will be provided with your own active colony to place in your newly constructed Australian Stingless Bee Box
