Event Description

Sonya Wallace

Permaculture teacher Sonya Wallace, will focus on keeping chooks happy and healthy using permaculture principles and design, selected plants and herbs.

In the workshop, Sonya will cover:- chookhouses;  feed;  herbs for health;  how to integrate your chooks in to your permaculture garden and selecting the right breed for you.

There is a full program of FREE workshops happening at the Gardens every second Saturday, as part of our Community Partnership under the ‘Living Smart’ Programme with Sunshine Coast Council.  

All workshops commence at 9.30 am (unless otherwise indicated) and go for approx 1 1/2 to 2 hours.  

These FREE workshops are open to everyone in the community, not just members and volunteers at the Gardens and there is no need to book a place  - unless otherwise indicated for that particular workshop. 

It is advisable to bring along a notepad and pen for taking notes, as well as a hat, sunscreen and your water bottle.

GrowVetiver

Vetiver grass helps to stabilise soil and protects it against erosion.  It can protect against pests and weeds. Vetiver is also used as animal feed. (Wiki.)

GrowVetiver is a plant nursery run by Dave & Keir Riley that harvests and grows Vetiver grass for local community applications and use. It is based in Beachmere, just north of Brisbane, Australia.
